Elzac Ceramic & Blue Lucite Bonnet Head Pin
Vintage 1940's brooch is nicknamed the "Bonnet Head" because of the fabulous lucite headpiece. The face is ceramic, with painted features. Brunialti's costume jewelry reference book attributes this design to Elzac, a California Pottery company who made other whimsical ceramic and lucite figurals. This one measures 3" in height. The lucite is nice and thick and has held up well over time. It's affixed to the back of the ceramic with a strong glue, and there is a two-part metal pinback embedded in the lucite. Condition is very good overall, though the lip paint was either not put on well to begin with, or there has been some loss. - $150
Elzac Victim of Fashion Sophisticated Lady Face Pin Brooch
1940s pin brooch features a sophisticated lady with painted ceramic face, green sude and leather suit and hat, faux pearl brooch. I haven't seen this particular beauty before. Though unmarked, this was made by California Pottery company ELZAC. I love the detail -- the very fashionable upturned hat, the little goldtone embellishment in her scarf. 3 3/4" height with some mild soiling to her hat and faux pearl (buyer may want to attempt to clean this but I'm leaving it as it is), and some mild paint loss to her lips and hair. - $140
1940's Ceramic Face & Turban Pin
Similar to the Victim of Fashion pins, this ceramic face pin with closed eyes and ethnic flair was probably also made in the 1940's California Pottery era. Painted gold turban and turquoise-colored plastic cabochon accent; 1 7/8" height with glued-on metal pinback. - $40
Elzac California Pottery Victim of Fashion Lamb Pin

ELZAC Sweet Face Puppy Dog Pin
This little floppy-eared ceramic puppy dog pin is so adorable, and he's all gussied up with a fabric bow and collar so he'll look even more adoptable. Appears to be Elzac, a 1940's California Pottery company that produced a wide variety of these ceramic figurals. He's a good size, measuring 2 3/8" across. Metal c-clasp pinback is affixed to a lucite strip that is glued on to the back. Very good overall condition, with some mild surface crazing which is more apparent in the photo than in actuality. - $120

1940s Elzac Ceramic Sleepy Lion Face Pin Very rare, hard to find Elzac lion pin features a yellow ceramic face with handpainted features, a furry mane and glued-on purple bow tie. Face measures just over 2" across; fur lends several extra inches of width. C-clap pin. Some surface crazing, and possible paint loss to one eyebrow. There is an inked inscription on the wooden back which reads "Lexis" and "17/5/43" which appears to be a European style date. This could be the artist's inscription or may be a gift or owner inscription. (See photos). - $180
Victim of Fashion White Bearded Chinaman
Extraordinary and rare male Victim of Fashion, made by the California Pottery Elzac Co. A venerable old Chinese man with white beard and colorful yarn turban; wood backing and metal pinback. Measures a total of 3 1/4" height. Condition is very good overall, with some mild scraping to the top of his head (possibly part of the turban is missing). Mild crazing to the ceramic glaze. - $120
ELZAC Ceramic Spanish Boy and Girl Figural Pins Absolutely fantastic and VERY unusual full figural ceramic pins appear to be the work of Elzac, a California pottery firm famous for its often ethnic "Victim of Fashion" faces. Glazed ceramic with painted details and fabric costume touches, these pins appear to be a Spanish boy and girl. To find these two together (!) in such great shape and with such detail is just fantastic. The boy (3 1/8") has a shy look with upturned eyes and hands behind his back; he wears an embroidered fabric serape and a painted wood hat. The girl (3") has a similarly embroidered head shawl, fabric braid, and a painted wood basket on her head filled with colorful beads (representing fruit). Her eyes are closed or downcast, and her feet turned inward in a kind of shy posture. Both have plastic and metal c-clasp pinbacks glued onto the unglazed back. Excellent overall condition. - $400
Ceramic Native Asian or Blackamoor Dancer Pin & Earring Set
This 1940's era ceramic pin and screwback earring set features a full-figured native dancer, bare-breasted with colorful yellow and red headdress and costume. Perhaps she is Balinese? She stands 3 1/4" and looks like some of the Elzac California Pottery figurals I've seen, but there are no markings. She has sustained a bit of scuffing to the face and torso, and a small chip off her hand. but still this is a very unique and collectible item. Glued-on metal pinback. Matching screwback earrings measure just over 1". - $120
