Magnificent Hattie Carnegie Art Glass Beaded Bib Necklace
Someone raided the candy store to assemble this breathtaking art glass bead necklace by Hattie Carnegie. The beads are so varied and colorful, with a luscious palette of pink, green, white, and orange -- perfect for spring or warm-weather wardrobe.
This is a heavy, substantial necklace, with peppermint pink and white striped or swirled Venetian glass beads -- some opaque, some translucent --there are even some fabulous pink and white speckled bow shaped beads. There are white milk glass beads, some molded into twist or free-form designs like saltwater taffy, some heavily faceted in rounds and ellipses. There are two-tone beads with both white milk glass and raspberry pink hues. There are pale pink beads molded into seashell shapes, some "crackle glass" beads. Then there are luscious greens -- clear translucent greens like gummy candy, faceted olive green and smooth teal green rounds, swirled green and white striped rounds, cased green freeform beads swirled with milky white, speckled turquoise colored beads, faux matrix turquoise rounds, but wait! What's this orange? An unexpected scattering of a few opaque orange jawbreakers. Each bead is separated by tiny opaque white spacers.
20 3/4" length (measuring shortest strand) with side-in clasp. Beads are strung on double strand of sturdy thread (though buyer may wish to have this restrung for security). Slide-in clasp is marked HATTIE CARNEGIE and decorated with a large white milk glass cabochon, dogtooth pronged.
Necklace is in very good condition overall; I did see one broken bow-tie bead upon close examination but there is just so much going on that the casual observer would not notice this. - $250
