Georges Pierre GIP Carved Horn Insect Pin Brooch ~ Art Nouveau
Circa 1900 Art Nouveau winged insect pin brooch is carved from horn by the well-known French artist Georges Pierre. The detail of the wings and body is sublime, and the wings are shaped and notched to reflect the light. Insects were a favorite motif for Art Nouveau jewelry -- as was nature motifs in general. This pin is set with a pink Linde star glowing glass cabochon; the setting itself is barely visible, and riveted from the back. Two-piece metal pinback has a c-clasp, and is embedded into the back of the piece. Marked GIP on reverse. Measures 3 1/8" across and is in stellar condition. - $745
